Safety & Care
At By Freya Infant Wellness, your baby’s safety, comfort, and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. Our Safety & Care guidelines ensure every experience — from hydrotherapy and infant massage to using our products at home — is nurturing, secure, and developmentally appropriate.
Please take a moment to read through the information below before visiting our space.
1. HYDROTHERAPY SAFETY
Supervision
Babies must remain under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian at all times during hydrotherapy.
A trained team member will guide each session, however parents remain responsible for their child’s safety.
Water Hygiene & Quality
Our spa water is sanitised, filtered, and tested daily to maintain strict hygiene standards.
Pods are cleaned and disinfected between each use.
Age & Health Requirements
Hydrotherapy is suitable from 2 days old to 12 months, provided your baby is in good health.
Please postpone your session if your baby:
has a fever, rash, infection, diarrhoea or vomiting
has recently received vaccinations and is unsettled
has open wounds or skin infections
has been advised to avoid pools or water-based activity by a healthcare professional
Floatation Rings & Support Devices
We use premium, medically safe floatation devices designed specifically for infant hydrotherapy.
Devices are sanitised after each use and checked for integrity.
Babies are never left unattended in a floatation device.
Feeding & Timing
Please avoid feeding immediately before a hydrotherapy session.
Allow 15–20 minutes after formula or 10 minutes after breastfeeding. If your baby is unsettled, hungry, or overtired, we may adjust or shorten the session to maintain comfort and safety.
2. INFANT MASSAGE SAFETY
Touch & Consent
We follow the Infant Massage Information Service (IMIS) standards for safe, respectful touch.
Your baby’s cues are always prioritised — we stop or modify techniques if baby shows signs of discomfort.
Massage Oils
We use By Freya Organic Cold-Pressed Sunflower Oil, suitable for sensitive skin and free from fragrances, preservatives, and additives.
If your baby has known allergies or skin conditions, please inform your practitioner prior to the session.
Session Environment
Massage takes place in a safe, warm, calm environment.
Babies may remain in a nappy or partially undressed according to parent comfort.
3. ILLNESS & ATTENDANCE
Please keep your baby home if they are experiencing:
Fever
Cold or flu symptoms
Vomiting or diarrhoea (within the last 48 hours)
Contagious illness (e.g., RSV, conjunctivitis, hand-foot-mouth)
Any condition requiring medical clearance
Your baby's wellbeing is always our priority, and attending while unwell may impact other babies in the space.
